Product Description

Accelerated Quantitative Profiling

Core Benefit: Enhanced Separation in Medium-Throughput Workflows

The 8 cm format provides additional resolving power over shorter columns while still supporting the speed needed for routine quantitative proteomics.

Chromatographic Excellence (FWHM Resolution)

Chromatographic excellence chart showing FWHM resolution of the 75µm column

Measured at 800 nL/min, the column delivers consistent peak widths of ~3.4–4.2 s across 10–20 min gradients, offering focused peak geometry that improves duty-cycle efficiency and quantification reliability. This makes the format well suited for time-sensitive cohort studies and routine translational workflows.

Backpressure Flexibility & Workflow Versatility

An operational flow window of 100–1500 nL/min allows smooth movement between accelerated profiling and nanoflow-level sensitivity without system changes. The 8 cm length provides a practical balance of speed, resolving power, and robustness, making it suitable for laboratories running a broad mix of LC-MS assays.

Accelerated Quantitative Profiling

Core Benefit: Balanced Speed with Increased Peak Capacity

The 8 cm (150 µm ID) column provides a practical balance between speed and separation space, offering improved resolution compared to shorter formats while retaining compatibility with high-throughput quantitative workflows.

Chromatographic Excellence (FWHM Resolution)

With 200 ng load over a 15-minute gradient, the column achieves an FWHM of ~3.8 s, providing more structured separation and reliable quantitative performance for large cohorts.

Backpressure Flexibility & Loading Capacity

Optimized for 1 µL/min and compatible up to 3 µL/min, the column benefits from inherently low starting backpressure, keeping operation stable even on less pressure-capable LC systems. The format offers the versatility needed to move between fast cycles and slightly extended separations depending on analytical requirements.

Compatibilities

Core columns are bare fused-silica emitter-integrated analytical columns designed to be connected via a liquid junction. With an outer diameter of 363 μm, they are compatible with liquid junctions engineered for standard 360 μm fused-silica tubing. Depending on the instrument setup, metal junctions can provide grounding or high-voltage transfer, while PEEK junctions may be used when an external grounding or voltage supply point is available. Core columns can also be mounted directly in nanospray sources that are designed to accept bare emitter tips. This includes Thermo Scientific Nanospray Flex and Bruker CaptiveSpray sources (with appropriate emitter positioning accessories such as the CaptiveSpray (CSI) emitter adjustment kit), enabling use of the column itself as the electrospray emitter and minimizing post-column volume. Specific adapter configurations may be required depending on the vendor ion source when using bare emitter columns. Users should consult instrument documentation where compatibility with blank-emitter columns is explicitly described.

Why We Use a Trusted C18 Phase

We rely on a well-established C18 material from Dr. Maisch because it has been widely used in LC–MS–based proteomics for nearly two decades and is known for its stable bonding chemistry, consistent material quality, and reproducible performance. This makes it a dependable foundation for achieving high-quality peptide separations across diverse workflows. The 1.9 µm C18 particles provide a balanced combination of peak capacity, mechanical robustness, and retention stability, supporting sharp and predictable peak shapes under the aqueous mobile-phase conditions typical for proteomics.
